Goodbye, cockerels

Today the cockerels met their fate. Knight, Gold and Black are no more. Hopefully there is an afterlife for nice (but rather dumb) cockerels. Here are their gravestones:

Black
August 6, 2009-September 27, 2009
I loved you, Black

Gold
August 6, 2009-September 27, 2009
You were cute and funny

Knight

Handsome hero

  2. We had to kill them. I REALLY didn't want them to die but we couldn't find homes for them. Also, we don't have room for a second rooster (much less a third and a fourth).
It was a sad day for us. Hopefully there is a StarClan for chickens.

  3. Oh no! So sad that you couldn't find homes! They could have been great fathers! LOL! Did you kill them yourselves?

I am a huge animal freak so I do not like animals dying in any way!

  4. I agree. They would have been good fathers. My dad killed them for me. He didn't enjoy it but he made it quick.

I'm animal crazy too so I am very sad about it. Poor boys.

  5. What did you do with them...after they were...killed....like how could anyone kill something? I wouldn't have to guts to do that!

  6. You probably don't want to know but... they ended up in the (please don't judge me too harshly!) garbage can. Rather gross.
I did not witness it. If I had, I would probably be in the hospital for major dehydration from crying. It was sad.
That was not a happy day in our family but it had to be done.

  7. Oh my gosh. lets hope they are happy in chicken heaven!*please let there be one!*

Wow....I would NOT let my dad do that. I would try and try and try and try and try to find a home...

But oh well. What's done is done...I guess.

  8. We put up a few ads....but I guess even Serama roosters are largely unwanted.

So now they have gone on to the chicken heaven...I hope Cheeseball and Mouse are being nice to them.
